Chan Fan Yong

beloncfy's Musical Background

I’m known online as "beloncfy", and my name is Chan Fan Yong. I’m a casual keyboard performer and arranger from Malaysia.

My musical journey began in 1989, when I was nine years old and first played the Yamaha Electone. Its “one-man orchestra” sound deeply inspired me and sparked my lifelong passion for music and arranging.

However, I put my musical journey on hold while studying computing in Australia, from which I graduated in 2004. Today, I continue my professional path as a computer programmer and server administrator.

In 2005, I acquired a Yamaha DGX-505 to replace my earlier damaged piano and Technics organ, marking the beginning of a new chapter in my musical journey. A decade later, in 2016, I added a Clavinova CLP-535 to my collection, rekindling my love for piano performance.

During the pandemic in 2019, I discovered "Victory" and "Star Sky" by Thomas Bergersen, which reignited my love for cinematic music. Together with my son, I began exploring cinematic-style arrangements on the Yamaha Electone Stagea, Korg PA series, and Yamaha PSR series.

In early 2023, I finally purchased a Yamaha PSR-SX900 and officially resumed my musical journey. One of my proudest moments was arranging and performing "Victory" on the PSR SX900, fulfilling a dream I had cherished for many years.

Although I had created several cinematic arrangements of well-known pieces, I initially kept them solely for my own performances. Later, with encouragement from several respected teachers I’ve met from around the world, I was inspired to share my work more widely. They noted that my style of arrangement was rare in the arranger community and encouraged me to make my data and scores available online at an affordable price, rather than releasing them for free.

Motivated by their support, I began transcribing my arrangements into sheet music, carefully crediting each composer, and publishing my works online for others to enjoy and perform.

Having music in my life is a true blessing. Since acquiring my arranger keyboard, I’ve been continually improving my arranging skills and striving to create more epic music for keyboard lovers around the world. Music has made my life vibrant and fulfilling once again.
