Learn Your Yamaha Keyboard Effectively
Whether you have a Yamaha PSR-2000 arranger keyboard (introduced back in 2001) or have just purchased PSR-SX900 or the latest (2024) PSR-SX920 keyboard, you can use the yamaha keyboard free lessons provided here to help you master the main features in your yamaha keyboard. All Yamaha mid-range (PSR, PSR-S, and PSR-SX) and flagship (Tyros and Genos) arranger keyboards share a familiar user interface (GUI) and operating system (OS), ensuring a smooth transition between models. As new models are introduced, they build upon this foundation—offering increasingly realistic voices, expanded style libraries, and enhanced performance capabilities. Newer models have introduced additional more realistic voices, more styles and more capabilities. But how the user interfaces with the keyboard (selecting styles and voices, saving keyboard setups, playing and recording songs) has remained unchanged from the original PSR-2000 up to and including the PSR-S975/S775 models. All of the Tyros series have also used essentially the same system as the PSR and PSR-S models.
Starting in 2018 with the high-end Yamaha Genos series (replacing the Tyros5) and continuing in 2019 with the PSR-SX models such us PSR-SX900 / PSR-SX700, or newer PSR-SX920 and PSR-SX720 a new touch-screen interface replaced the button-based interface of earlier models. Many of the features of earlier keyboards are still there, but how you get to the feature is different with the touch screen.
The Yamaha Keyboard Lessons, Tips and Tutorials provided here using the button-based and/or touch screen interface generally apply to all the PSR, PSR-S, PSR-SX, Tyros and Genos series. The Yamaha Clavinova CVP digital pianos also operate similarly so CVP owners as well can benefit. Over time, additional lessons will be added to cover the differences in the new Genos and PSR-SX series. They will be added throughout the Lessons section where appropriate.
